Aligning Decision Making and Organizational Structures to Mission

The 3rd of Open Circle Training Series

Wow! The processes, prompts, unique guidance, and the business discussion around the changes ahead for the organization were more meaningful and effective than I've ever experienced.

Warren Hebert, CEO, Homecare of Louisiana

Transformational Training for Leaders

Join Open Circle in this training for leaders as we challenge, deconstruct and reassemble power structures in our work, communities, and relationships. Develop the strength of purpose and the capacity to be clear and aligned in your decision making, individually, in groups, in organizations, and in communities.

In Workshop Three of the series, you’ll be ready to challenge, transform, and clarify power structures in your work, communities, and professional relationships while building decision-making skills in various contexts.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in working with groups towards a mission. It is particularly suited to those wanting to align the way you and your groups make decisions and (re)form structures towards your mission, aims and goals.

Learn to Assess & Reorganize Power Structures by:

  • Examining cultural definitions of power, authority, and decision-making within internal and external structures
  • Uncovering different approaches to aligning structure with brand purpose
  • Exploring methods for decision-making and rulemaking in an organizational context
  • Investigating consent and its impact on group decision-making
  • Analyzing group thinking patterns (i.e.,consent by default vs. choice)
  • Facilitating consent-based decision-making
  • Examining biases, assumptions, tolerance levels, meaning-making, and fear of exclusion
  • Applying systems thinking and feedback loops to the decision-making process
  • Practicing group techniques for giving and receiving feedback
  • Allocating roles and responsibilities in ongoing governance
Investigate power dynamics within different roles of authority

Program Overview

There are two components to this course, theory and practice of working with power in groups.

  1. Introduction to theories and concepts: this is 6 modules of online content - videos, keynotes and reflective exercises. This needs to be completed prior to the Practicum and can be done online in your own time prior to the Practicum. It is around 4-6 hours of content exploration. There are also additional resources such as articles, podcasts and books to look at pre or post course. This course comes as part of registration. Preview of On-demand Course
  2. Practicum: Live training over 2 days of experiential learning sessions. You will focus on putting the ideas you've learned into practice through coaching and practical skill building. This knowledge can be applied in your role as leader or facilitator in your job.
