The advanced work in Nei Dan (Daoist Internal Alchemy) continues with the
transmutation of purified generative energy (jing) into vital energy (qi).

In this retreat, we will accomplish the following stages of alchemical work:

  • Preparing the lower and middle cauldrons for the Immersion of Fire in Water.
  • Engaging the Microcosmic Orbit circulation to hold the fires in the Governor and Function Meridians.
  • Applying the cycle of the Firing Process to activate the Thrusting Meridian.
  • Drawing the lunar energy into the body.
  • Stoking the lunar fire for the transmutation of purified jing into qi.

When purified generative energy is transmuted into vital energy, the first stage of advanced work in Nei Dan will be complete.

The Qigong of Xiantianwujimen Taoism

Xiantianwujimen is a Daoist lineage founded by Chen Xiyi in 10th century China. “Xiantian” means primordial, “wuji” means limitless, and “men” means gate. The translated name of the lineage is Primordial Limitless Gate.

This lineage specializes in using qigong to simultaneously cultivate and transform body and mind. A hermit and household tradition, Xiantianwujimen has been transmitted uninterrupted for over a thousand years. Qigong techniques favored by this lineage include self-massage, tendon changing, calisthenics, marrow washing, and breath regulation.

Instruction of Xiantianwujimen qigong is offered by Eva Wong, a 19th generation carrier of the lineage, and by instructors authorized by the lineage.
