Open House

Maybe you drive past our sign on I-91 and wonder what's actually up here. Maybe a friend mentioned this place years ago and you never got around to visiting. Either way, this is your chance to come and say hello.

We're inviting the local community to the land and buildings for a free public tour. No experience with meditation needed, no religious background required, nothing to prepare. Just come see the place.

We'll take a walk through our organic garden, step into some of our most loved meditation rooms, and visit the Japanese archery range for a demonstration. Light refreshments will be out for anyone who wants a cup of tea or something to eat while they walk around.

There's no cost for any of it.

RSVP (optional but appreciated)

You don't need to register to come. If you'd like to let us know you're planning to stop by, it helps us get a rough headcount for refreshments and staffing, that's the only reason we're asking. Walk-ins are just as welcome.

• Do I need to know anything about meditation or Buddhism to come?
  No. This is an open house, not a teaching. You're welcome regardless of background or experience.
• Is there really no cost?
  Correct. The tour, the demonstration, and the refreshments are all free.
• Do I need to RSVP?
  No, but it helps us plan. If you know you're coming, a quick note ahead of time is appreciated, not required.
• What should I wear or bring?
  Comfortable shoes are a good idea since we'll be walking outside. Nothing else needed.
• Can I bring kids?
  Yes, families are welcome.
• How long does the tour take?
  The tour runs the full two hours, but you're welcome to arrive partway through or leave early if your schedule is tight.

Karmê Chöling is located at 369 Patneaude Lane, Barnet, Vermont, just off Interstate 91.

If you're coming from the surrounding area, here's roughly what to expect:

• St. Johnsbury: about 15 minutes
• White River Junction / Hanover: about 1 hour
• Littleton, NH: about 45 minutes
• Montpelier: about 1 hour
• Burlington: about 1.5 hours
