Caring for Body & Mind: Part III

Enhanced Qigong 4 - Strengthening Your Spine & Nourishing the Internal Organs

Four Taoist Guardians
Taoist Star Px

Strengthening the spine and nourishing the internal organs are keys to living a healthy and long life. When the spine is aligned, we carry our body with ease and move with elegance and confidence. When the internal organs are nourished, we breathe easier; our heart is stronger; our circulation is better; and we have more oxygen in our blood.

The practice of qigong can help us build qi in the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, and kidneys. It can also facilitate plasma and collagen production, which are necessary for healthy organs and a healthy spine.

The special focus of this retreat is improving spinal health and flexibility.

Spinal problems are now a common health issue in modern society. These problems not only cause physical pain, but can affect the functioning of the nervous system and the flow of energy (or qi) in the body. Physical health of the spine is defined by its mobility, flexibility, strength, and alignment. Internal health of the spine is defined by the effective functioning of the nervous systems located along the spinal column. The spinal column is also responsible for circulating cerebral spinal fluid from the base of the spine to the top of the head. This spinal fluid is now believed to be critical to learning and memory.

This retreat features:

  • Instruction in the Tiger and Dragon forms of the Wudangshan lineage that are designed to strengthen micro-muscles and enhance spinal movement.
  • The practice of Organ Cleansing to expel toxins from the internal organs.
  • Enhancing spinal flexibility and strength using qigong forms from the Immortals’ Guide and Red Phoenix.
  • Special talk on The Spinal Engine and the role of collagen production in the spinal column.
  • Application of Taoist meditation Nei Guan for focusing qi in the internal organs.
  • Discussion of a lifestyle that improves and maintains spinal and organ health.
