Lady Diana Mukpo: 1953 - 2025
Lady Diana Mukpo, wife of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, mother and grandmother, accomplished equestrian, and unwavering protector of the vision and teachings of the Vidyadhara, passed away on September 11, 2025. She leaves behind a rich and deep legacy—one of courage, steadfast devotion to the dharma, and a life that touched the hearts of many.
On September 17, 2025, family, friends, and community gathered at Karmê Chöling in Vermont to honor her life with a Funeral Ceremony and Celebration of Life. It was a day of quiet moments, shared memories, ritual, and deep connection. For those who were unable to attend that day here are the video recordings of these two ceremonies:
Sadhana of Mahamudra Funeral Ceremony
Lady Diana Mukpo - Celebration of Life
(edited)

It was a lovely late-summer day, gentle in light and atmosphere. Lady Diana's body arrived and her casket was received with honor by the Dorje Kasung.
As guests arrived, they were welcomed by graceful ikebana arrangements—an expression of beauty and peace—throughout the Main House and leading the way into the Main Shrine Room

The Main Shrine Room, prepared and awaiting the family, friends, and guests who would be attending the public ceremony. There was also time during the two days Lady Diana's body lay in state, for quiet, personal moments.

The funeral began with the Color Guard entering the Main Shrine Room to place the flags.

There were moments of ritual, remembrance, and community woven into the day. In the morning, the Sadhana of Mahamudra with feast was done as a funeral litergy with Larry Mermelstein as preceptor and Michael McLellan as umdze. In the afternoon a more informal Celebration of Life allowed space for stories, gratitude, and reflection.

Friends and family paid their respects to Lady Diana both in group practice and in personal moments.
Between the morning and afternoon sessions, people gathered together for lunch either under the dining tent or in the community room. There they ate and talked, exchanging stories and gratitude for Lady Diana, and finding comfort in the companionship and memories they shared.

When the ceremonies came to a close, all gathered for a final farewell as Lady Diana’s body was gently placed in the car that would carry her to the crematorium. With love and respect, she was bid goodbye.
