Payment Policy

For Programs That Begin After January 1, 2019

Paying for Programs

  • To hold your spot in a program and put you in the queue for housing assignment, a deposit or full payment is required at the time you register:
    • If registering more than two weeks before the program start date, a deposit of 50% of the full program price is required.
    • If registering within two weeks of the program start date, 100% of the program price is required.
  • Outstanding balances are due two weeks before the program start date.
  • A $50 charge will be added to your balance for:
    • Failure to pay your outstanding balance in full by two weeks prior to the program start date. This does not apply to materials fees, housing changes, or if you already have a payment plan approved and in place.
    • Registering for a program on or after the program arrival day.
  • If you have an existing outstanding balance or a payment plan in process, you are required to pay for the new program in full no later than two weeks prior to the program arrival date.
  • Financial aid or scholarships must be approved and in place two weeks before the program

Program Credit

  • If using existing program credit to pay for your program:
    • You must pre-register at least two weeks before the start of the program by calling the front desk (802-633-2384 x-101 or x-103 between 10:30am and 5pm, M-F).
    • Program credit may not be used to pay for housing or practice materials and may not be used on or after arrival day.

Payment Plan

An interest-free payment plan is available to anyone who requests one. Installments vary based on individual need. The guidelines for establishing a payment plan are as follows:

  • Payment plans must be established no later than two weeks prior to the program arrival date.
  • A deposit in the amount of 50% of the full program price is required before or at the time of requesting a payment plan.
  • Payments are made in monthly installments and must be completed within 6 months from the time the payment plan begins.
  • To be eligible for a payment plan, any and all outstanding balances must be paid and any previous payment plans should be paid off.
    • Participants who do not meet these eligibility requirements must pay for any new program in full no later than two weeks prior the start of the program.
  • Contact the front desk (802-633-2384 x-101 or x-103 between 10:30am and 5pm, M-F) to arrange a payment plan.

Cancellation Policy

  • All cancellations will result in a $35 cancellation fee.
  • Group and In-House Retreats
    • Deposits and payments are refundable up to two weeks prior to the program start date minus the $35 cancellation fee.
    • If you cancel within two weeks of the program start date, Karmê Chöling will deduct the cancellation fee and retain the balance of your deposit as transferable credit towards another program here. Transferable credit will expire after two years. Any payments exceeding the deposit will be refunded to you (not including financial aid or scholarships).
  • Solitary Cabin Retreats:
    • A $35 fee will be charged for the following:
      • All cancellations
      • A change in retreat dates by one month or more
    • Deposits and payments are refundable up to six weeks prior to the program start date minus the $35 cancellation fee.
    • For cancellations within six weeks of the retreat start date deposits are non-refundable except under extenuating circumstances (such as illness or death in the family), in which case the deposit can be applied as transferable credit or be refunded to you.
  • No refunds or credits are given for cancellations on or after arrival day.

For Programs that Begin Before December 31, 2018

Paying for Programs

  • A deposit is required to register.
    • Programs that cost less than $500 require a $100 deposit.
    • Programs that cost $500 or more require a $200 deposit.
  • 100% of the balance owed for any program is due two weeks prior to the program start date. By registering for a program, you authorize Karmê Chöling to charge the same card used for the deposit to cover the balance owed on that program two weeks prior to the program start date, unless you make other arrangements prior to that day.
  • For participants using a payment plan option, 50% of the balance owed is due two weeks prior to the program start date. The balance may be paid in monthly installments, taking up to 6 months to pay in full. Arrange this with the front desk prior to registering for a program.
  • Karmê Chöling is not able to grant scholarships on or after arrival. Financial aid arrangements must be made in advance, at least two weeks prior to the program. For more information on scholarships and financial aid, click here.
  • Karmê Chöling discourages debt. Participants wishing to attend a program who have an existing outstanding balance of $500 or more, or who are not current on an existing payment plan, are required to pay for the new program in full two weeks prior to the arrival date.
  • Participants are encouraged to make an additional payment if possible as a donation to help provide financial support for others to attend programs.

  • After the two-week deadline, Karmê Chöling will deduct a $25 cancellation fee and retain the balance of your deposit as credit towards another program. This credit will expire after two years. Any payments exceeding the deposit will be refunded.
  • For solitary retreat cabins, deposits and payments are refundable up to six weeks prior to the retreat start date, minus a $35 cancellation fee. The same fee is charged for changing retreat dates by one month or more.
  • After the six-week deadline, deposits for solitary retreat cabins are non-refundable except under extenuating circumstances (such as illness or death in the family), in which case $35 is retained and can be applied toward another program or refunded to you.
  • No refunds or credits are given for cancellations on or after arrival day.
