Chöd Retreat

with Arthur Jennings

April 5 - 7

Machig Labdron Thangka

"With a stunning array of visualizations, song, music, and prayer, Chod engages every aspect of one’s being and effects a powerful transformation of the interior landscape." - Sarah Harding - preface to Machik's Complete Explanation Clarifying the Meaning of Chöd

Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche taught Chöd at many of his summer programs at KCL. Currently there is a small group practicing Chod weekly. The liturgy by the 14th Karmapa Thekchok Dorje is mostly sung in English, based on Tibetan melodies and accompanied with the traditional Chöd drum and bell.

On Friday night we'll have the lung. On Saturday morning we'll do a long slow guided-meditation version of the practice and watch a video of the Khenpo. The rest of the weekend will be practice sessions including a Machig Labdron guru yoga. New people can learn the melodies, visualizations etc practicing alongside more experienced students. We'll end with lunch on Sunday.

For more info please contact Arthur Jennings

Participants should have attended either Sacred World Assembly or Vajrayana Seminary.

Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche has given permission for his students who have been practicing Chöd regularly at Karmê Chöling to give the lung for this practice to Shambhala vajrayanists who would like join them. This weekend will be the perfect opportunity to receive the lung, and begin to learn the practice, melodies, and use of instruments in an open, spacious and relaxed environment.
