Daoist Qigong and Meditation Retreat: Qigong Levels 1 & 2

with Instructor: Suzann Duquette

November 11 - 18

This 7-day retreat will introduce Daoist Qigong Levels 1 & 2, the essence of qigong practice. These levels will be integrated with meditation techniques that are unique to the Primordial Limitless Gate lineage. Both are offered as taught by Dr. Eva Wong. Refresh or be introduced to these qigong practices of health and well-being that cultivate body and mind and Qigong-related meditation.

Physical health and mental well-being are closely aligned in the Daoist arts of health and longevity. Daoist qigong addresses the dual cultivation of body and mind. Virtue, compassion, yielding, and clarity of mind are as important as nourishing the physical body and circulating internal energy or qi.

Throughout this retreat, we will practice, explore, and integrate Daoist qigong and related methods of meditation as they apply to our physical health and mental well-being.

This Course Offers:

In-depth Practice of Qigong Levels 1 and 2

  • Qigong I: Forms that introduce the essence of qigong practice – self massage, bone marrow washing, and calisthenics.  6 Basic Daoyin postures purify blood, bone marrow, generative energy & lymph in order to enhance non-conceptual circulation of qi. Two postures from the Yiquan Zhangzhuan lineage, a Daoist-inspired lineage of standing qigong, gather internal energy and rest the mind. These forms build tendon and bone strength, enhance and repair muscular-skeletal functions, and align energy channels. We will also practice sleeping qigong to relax and refresh the body and mind.
  • Qigong 2: The 9 Self-Massage System and 12 Tendon-Changing System, two of the most potent qigong systems. The 9 Self-Massage System opens energy blockages, stimulates energy centers, and guides the flow of energy in the body. The 12 Tendon-Changing System is one of the most effective forms of qigong to increase spinal mobility and strength, repair cartilage and joint damage, and introduce overall flexibility and strength to ligaments, muscles, and tendons.

Methods of Meditation Unique to the Primordial Limitless Gate Lineage

  • The cultivation of the physical and energetic body builds the foundation of the cultivation of mind. Meditation provides us with a consciousness that makes the body safe for gathering and storing internal energy. Qi, or internal energy, feeds whatever arises in consciousness. What arises - be it anger, kindness, fear, and even wisdom - are all intensified by qi. It is therefore important for us not just to cultivate qi, but be aware of what is arising in our consciousness every moment. Primordial Limitless Gate meditation can help us become aware of what arises, and show us how to protect qi from being drained or used to feed negativity.

There are no pre-requisites for the retreat. Everyone is welcome.

Given the integrated introduction of qigong and related meditation techniques over the course of the week, only full-time participation is available.
