Shambhala Day

Please join us to celebrate Shambhala Day and welcome in the new year! Included in the many activites throughout the day is the traditional sangha-wide address by His Majesty, The Sakyong, Jamgön Mipham Rinpoche.

Shambhala Day marks the beginning of the New Year and is one of the most important celebrations in Shambhala Buddhism. Based on the traditional Tibetan New Year, Losar, the day is calculated astrologically according to the lunar calendar.

Preliminary schedule - subject to change:

  • 8:00am  Breakfast
  • 8:45am  Color party raising the flags – front lawn
  • 9:00am  Outdoor Lhasang
  • 9:30am  Main Shrine room for Practice and Fundraising
  • 11:30am  Festive Brunch in the Dining Room
  • 12:45pm  Gather back in the Main Shrine Room
  • 1:00pm  Online Roll call &Talk by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche
    • First Shot of the New Year ~ Kyudo
    • Practice Book Procession
  • 2:30pm I Ching reading
  • 3:00pm  End--All help with clean up 

There is no charge for this event, though a donation of $15 is suggested for all those who join us for meals.
