Warrior Assembly

Warrior Assembly, which follows Enlightened Society, provides participants with the weapons of the warrior, the tools to actualize the experience of basic goodness and create enlightened society.  The primary tools are windhorse, the Ashe, and the terma texts themselves.  Warrior Assembly is a pre-requisite for attending Sacred World Assembly (Vajrayana Seminary).

Please plan to arrive between 3-5pm on Tuesday, February 11 and February 22nd is a departure day, so you are free to leave anytime. However, please stay and help us with take down activites after breakfast!

In order to attend Warrior Assembly you must apply through Shambhala International and be accepted into the program.  Please click on the following application link to apply.  Note:  the Office of Practice and Education will stop accepting applications three weeks prior to Warrior Assembly.

Note: Registration fee will increase by $100 as of February 4, 2014.  There is a deadline of Jan 11th for all applications for financial assistance.

The prerequisite to Warrior Assembly is:

  • Enlightened Society Assembly
  • Sacred Path programs (including Golden Key)
  • Completion of a weekthun (in addition to the one done before Enlightened Society Assembly)

Patron Price: $1455
This price covers 100% of Karmê Chöling's operational cost for the program and supports financial aid for other participants. By choosing to pay this price, you extend your generosity to Karmê Chöling and the other participants. Thanks to you, we can make more scholarships available and continue to enrich Karmê Chöling.

Base Price: $1125
This cost covers 80% of operating costs for the program reflecting Karmê Chöling's commitment to keeping programs affordable. We fundraise to cover the remaining program costs.

Price includes meals but not accommodations.

It is traditional for students to offer a monetary gift to the teacher in appreciation for receiving the teachings, and in recognition of the years of training and understanding the teacher has cultivated. There will be an opportunity to offer a teaching gift at the program.

About Ashe Acharya John Rockwell

John Rockwell has been a student of Buddhism and the Shambhala teachings for 30 years. He was professor of Buddhist Studies at the Naropa Institute for 12 years, co-director of Karmê Chöling Meditation Center for 4 years, and Director of Shambhala International for 5 years. He is a member of the Nalanda Translation Committee, which translates Buddhist texts and liturgies into English. In 1996, he was appointed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche to be an acharya (senior teacher) for the Shambhala community, and in 2001, he became the Ashe Acharya, in charge of the International Office of Practice and Education. After living at Karmê Chöling as the Resident Acharya, he now lives in Halifax.

About Rupa Acharya Suzann Duquette

Suzann is an Acharya, a senior teacher and representative of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.  She has been a student, leader, and teacher in the Shambhala lineage since 1974. A former co-director of Karmê Chöling, Suzann is currently Resident Acharya for the center and a core faculty member of Karmê Chöling’s Mukpo Institute. She is also Rupa Acharya. In this position, she is responsible for maintaining and fostering the sacred ceremonial and liturgical forms of Shambhala.

Acharya Duquette teaches widely. She respects the power of embodiment in bringing conceptual learning to manifestation, and emphasizes body awareness and disciplines in all her teaching. The Acharya is a Qigong instructor in the lineage of Eva Wong, a Lujong or Warrior Exercises instructor in the lineage of Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso, Rinpoche, and a Mudra Space Awareness teacher in the lineage of Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche. She lives with her husband, Jan, in Barnet, where they own a bed and breakfast, Blue Skies Guesthouse.
