Residential Shambhala Volunteer Program

The Residential Shambhala® Volunteer Program (RSVP) is open to practitioners who have a current and established connection to Shambhala practice and study, who volunteer within their local community, and who have a connection to Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche.

Karmê Chöling provides RSVPs with free meals and accommodations (dorm or shrine room floor housing in winter and shared tent housing in summer). RSVPs also receive program credit that can be used for up to one year at Karmê Chöling.

Participants are asked to make a commitment of at least one month or more, depending on the position. Volunteering is a great opportunity to experience living and working at Karmê Chöling!

The following RSVP position is now open:

Summer Kasung: Spring and Summer are busy times at Karmê Chöling and will be bustling with Kasung activity.  We are looking for a residential volunteer to support Makkyi Rabjam’s visit, the Iron Wolf Squad, and the Summer programs — full-time Kasungship from mid-April to August 22!  This is a great opportunity if you have experience as a Kasung and want to go deeper, or prepare to step into a Kasung leadership role at your Center. You will be assisting the Kasung Liaison in providing a reference point to our staff and retreatants through the summer programs, while experiencing the environment of a Land Center and being fully in the community.  There will be time of great exertion, with training and service opportunities at the Kalapa Court and on land. And there will be times of rest, practice and fun. If you’re looking for the full experience, this is the thing for you!  Requirements:  18 years or older; US citizen or authorized to work in the US; a year or more of Kasung experience; valid driver’s license and passport.  Experience serving on a Garsung staff is a plus!  Available starting April 15.
