Residential Shambhala Volunteer Program

The Residential Shambhala Volunteer Program (RSVP) is open to practitioners who have a current and established connection to Shambhala practice and study.

Karmê Chöling provides free meals and accommodations (dorm or shrine room floor housing in winter and shared tent housing in summer).

Depending on the length of the volunteer commitment, RSVPs receive some part of program tuition for Karme Choling programs and also earn program credit that can be used for future program registrations. Volunteers are included in staff classes and community life.

Participants are asked to make a commitment of at least one month or more, depending on the position. All volunteers must be authorized to work in the United States (yes Canadians, too!).

Questions? Please email the Head of Personnel.

The following RSVP positions are now open:

Kitchen Crew: We are looking for a few great volunteers to join us now if you can, and spend a few very busy months cooking and practicing with us. Come in June and stay for two months or through September, our busiest and most lively time of year. Nothing is more beautiful than Karmê Chöling in the summer! If you can only come for a month, look at our summer volunteer program and sign up for a session. You will never regret spending time at Karmê Chöling!

Facilities Crew: We especially need you May through September. Help with set up of our “tent culture” for the summer. Continue with routine maintenance and the set up and take down for changing programs throughout the summer, and then help put everything away again in the fall. Work outdoors all summer and meditate every morning with the staff! Join in some of the programs being offered, too. Meet wonderful people from around the world as we host hundreds of Shambhala meditators and family members.
