Kyudo Assembly

with Shibata Sensei Kanjuro XX

September 11 - 20, 2009

Shibata Sensei Kanjuro XX

All past, present, and future kyudo practitioners are warmly invited to join this Zenko Fall Kyudo Assembly at Karmê Chöling. This is an opportunity to join together in a retreat setting for an extended period of group practice. As always, the emphasis is on "standing meditation" kyudo and mutual appreciation of our practice.

Shibata Sensei will be attending and will be directing other senior members of Zenko in creating a genuine practice environment. The idea of the Assembly is that all the kyudo practitioners in the area (and beyond) come together each year to practice with each other and to celebrate our shared journey. The key is open-hearted participation.

For the last three days, beginners will work directly with practiced students and progress from dojo etiquette and equipment handling to learning the basic form, shichi-do, or the Seven Coordinations. With students and the leaders of the Zenko Kyudojos in the East Coast area working in conjunction, this program offers an environment in which beginning and experienced students can advance their practice together.

The program begins on Friday evening, September 11 and ends on Sunday, September 20 in the afternoon.

Experienced practitioners who cannot attend the full program are welcome to participate at a daily rate of $60.

In addition to the program fee, there is a $25 maintenance fee (for the Seiko Kyudojo Fund for Upkeep of the Azuchi and Yumis).
