Two-Week Meditation Retreat
with Shastri Bill Brauer
November 15 - 30, 2012
This program is a two-week group meditation retreat, and will focus on developing a deep understanding of shamatha or "peaceful abiding" meditation. This retreat will encourage us to appreciate being precise, relaxed and simple in the present moment, impacting our entire life. Shamatha is the basis of all other practices in the Buddhist and Shambhala traditions. The program is open to anyone and is a very powerful introduction to and deepening of mindfulness-awareness meditation. The core daily practice of this retreat consists of alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation with time for talks, study, and a short work period to support the community.
This program is often a life changing experience giving oneself an opportunity to touch the tender heart we sometimes lose connection with in our daily lives. The schedule includes frequent talks by a senior teacher, one on one meditation instruction with a experienced meditation instructor, guided sessions of meditation, contemplative meditation and a wonderful festive dinner to celebrate this powerful program the night before departure.
Participants may attend at minimum one week of the program (called a weekthün). Please see the weekthün registration page.
This program fulfills half of the Dathün practice requirement for the Shambhala Buddhist path.
