Assistant Director Training

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Assistant Director of Shambhala Training. Please verify that you meet the prerequisites listed below, or state why you are applying without meeting them. Notification of your acceptance status will be sent to you by email.

Once accepted, participants will begin preparatory practice and study in advance of the program. Please note that acceptance to train is not a guarantee of authorization as an AD. Program begins at 7:30pm December 7th and ends 5pm Sunday December 9.

Prerequisites:

I) Successful completion of Shambhala Guide program, completion of a dathün and completion of Warrior Assembly

II) Completion of Buddhist Meditation Instructor Training, and completion of Warrior Assembly

People applying for Assistant Director Training should also:

Have coordinated at least one Shambhala training program
Have an ongoing relationship with meditation practice
Be a member of a Shambhala Center.

Study
People who are accepted to the training will participate in a six week preparatory class at your local center in addition to individual study of the Heart of Warriorship teaching guide prior to the weekend program.

Preauthorization:

This program requires pre-authorization in order to register. An authorization code will be included in your acceptance letter.

Full Program Fee: $356
This price covers Karmê Chöling's actual operational cost for the program. By choosing to pay this price, you extend your generosity to Karmê Chöling and the other participants. Thanks to you, we can make more scholarships available and continue to enrich Karmê Chöling.

Discounted Program Fee: $300
This price reflects Karmê Chöling's commitment to keeping programs affordable. The operational costs for this program not covered by program fees come from donations.

Please Note:
Price includes meals but not accommodations.

It is traditional for students to offer a monetary gift to the teacher in appreciation for receiving the teachings, and in recognition of the years of training and understanding the teacher has cultivated. There will be an opportunity to offer a teaching gift at the program.

Scholarship and Financial Aid resources are available to make dharma accessible to people in all circumstances. We offer different ways for overcoming financial obstacles here.

About Shastri Bill Brauer

Shastri Bill Brauer has been a member of the Shambhala community for 40 years, and was once the Executive Director of Karmê Chöling. He currently is a consultant for large corporations on leadership training, succession planning, and developmental feedback programs throughout North America. In 2010, Shastri Brauer was empowered as a Shastri by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. He has fulfilled this role by leading Way of Shambhala classes, Dathuns, Meditation Instructor Training, and Shambhala Training Levels throughout North America and Eastern Europe, and most recently Russia.
