Accommodation at Karmê Chöling Karmê Chöling's visitors and program participants have many accommodation options. We offer private single and double rooms, shared dormitory housing, meditation hall accommodations, seasonal tents, and a guesthouse in nearby Barnet, Vermont. There are also various lodging options in the surrounding community, many of which are owned by members of the Shambhala sangha.
Private rooms and dormitories include bedding, towels, and storage space for guest belongings. For meditation hall and tent accommodations, guests should bring their own bedding and towels, and may store their belongings in cubicles located in the lower dormitory, or in our outdoor changing tent in the summer. All visitors have access to shared bathrooms and the laundry room, which includes washers and dryers, an iron and ironing board, drying racks, and detergent.
Program fees cover tuition and meals, and do not include accommodations. There is a separate charge for accommodations, which varies with the accommodation option selected. Program Participants: Daily accommodation rates for program participants are quoted in blue below. Rates are per person. In-House Retreatants and Other Visitors: For in-house retreatants and other visitors not participating in an ongoing program, meals and accommodations are bundled into a single daily rate, which varies by accommodation option. Rates are quoted in gray below. Families: Karmê Chöling welcomes participants with families. Families are responsible for their own child care. Children under three years old may stay with their parent or caregiver at no charge. There is a $20/day fee for children over three years old.
Ashoka Bhavan Single $50 / Double $30 / Dorm Bed $20 Non-Program: $70 / $60 / $50 Ashoka Bhavan is our guesthouse in the neighboring town of Barnet, about one mile, a 30-minute walk, or a three-minute drive from Karmê Chöling. Bedding and towels are provided. There are shared bathrooms and showers on each floor. All meals are served at Karmê Chöling, but there is a kitchen on the first floor for visitors who wish to store and prepare their own food. Other amenities include a large living room and two outdoor patios. The Astor Suite, with two bedrooms, a private bath, and a sitting room, is available for $100 per night. Ashoka Bhavan is equipped for wheelchair access. Local Accommodation There are several choices for bed and breakfast lodgings, hotels, and campgrounds nearby. Madge Rossinoff, our off-site housing coordinator, will be happy to assist you in finding off-site accommodations. She can be reached at (802) 592-3370. Most of these lodging sites are small businesses. Please consider this while making your travel arrangements, and give appropriate notification if you must cancel a reservation.
